Complete Protein Tortillas

Vegan and food allergy friends, I have a new product to recommend. I came across Ezekiel 4:9 sprouted grain tortillas via FreshDirect and was intrigued by their concept. They combine organic sprouted wheat, soybeans, barley, millet, lentils, and spelt with water, salt, and sesame seeds to make tortillas that are a complete protein, meaning they have all nine essential amino acids needed for your body to make use of the nutrients. This combination of ingredients is apparently based on texts in the Holy Scriptures. I could do without the religious overtures, but it's a great product either way. The tortillas don't have any added oil, which means the end result has less fat and fewer calories than the traditional version. Despite all this healthy goodness, they actually taste delicious. I used them for black bean and yam burritos last week and quesadillas this week. The tortillas have a nutty flavor and are a bit grainier than wheat tortillas, more like corn tortillas, but oh so yummy, especially when pan crisped. This is the first product from Food for Life I've tried, but they make a host of other bread products using organic, sprouted grain products.
